Nouns are the names of objects, places or people. There are four types of noun: concrete, proper, collective (or group) and abstract.
All sentences must contain at least one noun, and this is usually introduced as the subject of the sentence, i.e. the object something happens to or which performs an action, e.g. The apple fell from the tree.
In addition, additional nouns can be introduced into more complex sentences. These are introduced as the object of the sentence, usually near the end, e.g. Recently the weather has been so dry that apples started to fall from the tree.
