Sample of words for use when writing research reports

Here is a sample of words (nouns, verbs and adjectives) which are often used when reporting research, as is done in both academic essays and reports. This list is short and selective – and when you are writing you too must SELECT the words that are appropriate for you.

Note: if you don't know the meaning of a word, look it up in a dictionary and make sure you decide whether it is a useful word for you or not. If it IS useful, then you need to remember it – and to do that you need to use it several times in as many ways as possible – in writing and in speaking.
